Trevoh Chalobah Poised to Take Over from Marc Guehi in Three Lions Selection

Trevoh Chalobah in action

Trevoh Chalobah followed his sibling Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the 21st duo of siblings to earn caps for the England side.

Trevoh Chalobah is expected to be added to the England squad to fill in for unavailable Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is scheduled to meet up with the national side for England's remaining World Cup qualifying matches against Serbia and Albania, but it has yet to be made public.

The Three Lions have already booked their place for next summer's World Cup.

Chalobah earned his initial call-up under England manager Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then earned his first cap against Senegal.

In the month of September, Tuchel said Chalobah was unfortunate to be excluded from the team for qualifying games against Andorra and Serbia, and also didn't call him up for the subsequent October matches.

Tuchel has been an important influence in Chalobah's development, having awarded him his Chelsea first-team bow in the year 2021.

Chalobah has played in nearly all matches for Chelsea this season, with the club third in the English top flight, in the EFL Cup quarter-finals and in the league phase of the Champions League.

Guehi sustained a foot problem in Crystal Palace's Conference League success over AZ Alkmaar last week.

There are expected to be further inclusions to the selection. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has said that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip injury) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (a concussion) will withdraw from the England setup.
